5 ways to relieve muscle tension after a workout (without leaving home)

Training is good, but recovery is just as important — and often the part that receives the least attention. Here are some simple ways to relieve tension in your body after an intense session:

1. Foam roller. Ten minutes of foam rolling on your legs and back help release tension points and improve circulation.

2. Localized heat. A cervical massager with heat is ideal after hours of sitting or upper body training — it combines heat and vibration to relax your neck and shoulders.

3. Massage gun. A few minutes of percussive therapy on the most strained areas (quads, calves, back) accelerate muscle recovery between workouts.

4. Resistance band stretches. Besides being useful for strength training, an adjustable bar or band helps you stretch with more control than freehand.

5. Consistency, not intensity. Ten minutes of active recovery every day is more effective than one long session once a week.
